So, too, does Samantha Halley find herself inside, a young British woman from 2026. Though met with due courtesy, she finds no assurance from her encounters within the tower walls, its winding passageways and inexplicable rooms, what ill figures haunting in step beyond fractured moonlight for no regard towards her circumstances. Her determination to uncover the truth together with these far-flung strangers is soon struck restless as they work desperately against the foist and failings of hope — how is it, after all, that man may keep heart amidst unknown danger?
